About Me

I am an independent clockmaker based in Lindfield, West Sussex

I specialise in the conservation, restoration and repair of pre-factory made pendulum clocks.

I work for Individuals, Institutions, and the Trade.

I hold the West Dean Diploma in Conservation/Restoration of Clocks with a double distinction.  I won the Tom Robinson prize, the West Dean Chairman of Trustee’s prize (“a truly inspirational piece of work [...] excellent craftsmanship, imagination and creativity ”) and the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers prize.

My career started in archaeology, with degrees from London and Oxford, working across the UK, Syria and Italy.

I moved to IT set up Business Continuity/Information Security departments for large financial institutions, then into consultancy. I gained an MBA, with The Director’s Commendation from City University,

Finally, I have returned to my roots in Heritage... Antiquarian Horology.

This background moulds my approach:

  • I will advise and guide but never dictate.  Consultancy  training develops an instinctive collaborative approach.  It is important to me that my client feels they are in control.
  • I find solutions that fit - Distinction level horological training provides a vast range of top rate craft skills and analytical techniques.  An Archaeology and Museums background gives an intuitive feel for historic artefacts and their conservation.
  • I can help beyond pure horology.  Years in management developed an appreciation of the pressures on those working in Heritage.  I can understand not just the object, but peoples objectives.
